Something I have been looking forward to came to fruition this week – I was able to use my senior person’s railcard.

I MOVED from Cambridgeshire to Worcester a few months ago. ON July 24 I was one of more than 600 bishops from more than 130 countries who, together with their spouses and leaders of other Christian denominations and faiths, marched down Whitehall.

Two attractions in Wyre Forest deserve wider recognition and a visit this summer. First we have the rejuvenated Stourport Dock Basins where the Midlands canals join the river Severn.

It seems silly to talk about Christmas, although the weather might suggest we are in late autumn rather than early summer. But why not?

What a resilient nation we British are. Last Saturday was one of the wettest nights of the summer and I was at… a barbecue.

The future of Hartlebury Castle has led the county council to come in for some severe criticism recently – criticism that is both unfair and misplaced. I am appalled by some of the things that are being said by people who should know better.

I’VE been feeling a bit depressed this week. It was raining when the alarm went off at a quarter past a stupid time on Thursday morning and the thought struck me that the nights are getting darker earlier already.

Sixty not out – the NHS is going well. This week the NHS celebrates its 60th birthday. Despite opposition from the BMA, a Labour government created a world’s first.

Last week I visited Worcester Royal Hospital to lead a service to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the National Health Service.

After my wedding/birthday/honeymoon, it’s back to the alarm going off at 5.15am this week and returning to work.

In recent weeks I have been very disappointed with the House of Commons.

Well here we are in Cleethorpes and the e-mail system works at the Sandy Bay Caravan Park.

As a former Minister for Housing I take a special interest in the recent announcement by the Government of its plan to build 25,250 new houses in south Worcestershire by 2026.

I have had a protest about the Three Choirs Festival. Someone (living a hundred miles away from Worcestershire) is outraged that I will allow a concert of British film music in the cathedral.

For some people it might be money or material possessions, ie fast cars, big house, lots of pairs of shoes (!); for others it might be security, contentment, passion, job satisfaction etc etc.
