A win in Italy..

Viadana 16 Warriors 19. Not a lot of meaning to the match and Worcester rested a few players, which gave some of the others some game time. The Academy players have been producing some good results so this was an occasion for them to play in the first team.

Irish Under 21 international, Callum Black started in the front row, always a difficult place to be as a younger player, the front row is a dark and mysterious place for the un-initiated, dark arts are practised only known to the 'old salts' who delight in showing the inexperienced how it's done.

Will Bowley an England U21 cap, and in the England 7’s squad this year , played in the 2nd row, he is fast becoming a real asset, for 6ft and a lot, he is very quick and once up to speed a bit difficult to stop. Simon Whatling, England U21 cap too, has had a bit of bad luck with injures of late so it was good that he got some time on the pitch today and scored some points too. The legend that is Gavin Quinnell and Wales U21 cap, is a guy who is only 22 which is very scary seeming he playing like someone much more mature. Being top try scorer for the Warriors this season seems to be spurring him on and on. Matt Mullen is the final younger player to get some game time today after playing on Monday too against Henley when they won 40 to 10. He, Ben Gotting and Callum Black all played in that game in the front row.

It sometimes easy to forget that these players are still 22 or under, most are 6ft plus and weighing in over 14st they are physically imposing and block the light when the come in a door.

This Friday it’s back to battle to stay in the Premiership with Wasps at Sixways. We beat them last year, with a 4 try bonus point. Time will tell if the Warriors can pull off the same result in front of a packed Sixways crowd. I have said before I love Friday night games there’s nothing to beat the atmosphere, so with a little help from 10,000 noisy Warriors fans, lets swat the Wasps!!!!
