Last night was the long awaited return of Top Gear and more importantly of Richard “The Hamster” Hammond following his horrific car crash last year in a jet powered car at over 300mph
where he nearly died from severe head and brain injuries.
To see him last night back on Top Gear, when he was at deaths door when he had the crash, was absolutely amazing. He didn’t look like his old self granted, he had a bit of a grey
“ashen” look about him and he has lost a lot of weight. I guess it will be a while before he’s back on top form but he is doing really well so far considering!
The first episode of the season got off to a really good start; and they even showed the footage of the crash which was unbelievable. It is a miracle he is still living and breathing! He got a bit of
mickey taking from Clarkson and James May, and at the end after the footage had been shown he said, “I don’t want the accident mentioned anymore” and the other two said yeah okay,
but I wonder if they will actually stick to that or not!
I’d love to be in the audience for a recording of Top Gear; I’ve been on the waiting list for tickets for ages on end but it is a very long wait! If I got a date though, I’d be
there like a shot!
And in another twist, I’ve just read that over a million more people tuned in to see Top Gear last night than the final of Celebrity Big Brother! I bet there will be heads rolling at Channel 4
after the whole debacle!
All I can say is – long live the hamster!
