RATIONING holidays abroad and at home have become the new policies from the Conservative Party. Readers will need to watch out, because their holiday plans may be scuppered.

This week, the Conservatives suggested they want to limit the number of flights abroad that you can take without being heavily penalised by high taxes.
So if you and your family plan to fly abroad for your holidays this year, you are most at risk of a whacking tax bill.
I think the Tories are wrong on a number of counts.
There should not be limits placed on people’s aspirations this way. Hard-working families who might look forward to a couple of weeks away will be penalised.
The old-Etonian Tory David Cameron wants to stop ordinary families enjoying a well-earned break abroad but he can fly in a private jet to watch a football match abroad.
Yes, we need to tackle climate change but this won’t save the planet. There are other ways of dealing with the problem of greenhouse gases.
Taxing people heavily in this way will not stop hard-working people from flying, but it will cost them more. This doesn’t stop climate change or reduce greenhouse gases.
As I have said before, letting people experience holidays abroad is good for us all. It creates a better understanding of different cultures.
Becoming more isolationist as a nation is hardly what we need at the moment. And to try to price ordinary hard-working families out of going abroad really is a regressive step. Proof that Tories never change their spots!
But those hoping to holiday at home should also watch out. Your plans are not safe from the Tory threat either.
The Cameron Conservatives have promised to scrap the Social Chapter, which gives part-time workers equal employment rights but also, and most importantly, guarantees minimum holiday rights for workers. So your holidays are also under threat from this policy as well.
At a time when many families are planning their summer holidays – watch out because with the Tories they are under threat.
