What a Birthday !!!…. Tickets to the Bristol match and seats on the supporters coach courtesy of my lovely daughter as my present.. And then treated to a really enthralling game of
rugby.
Matches don’t come much closer than that, the Warriors kept playing right up to the whistle in both halves and if they had managed to repeat the effort at the end of the first half the match
would have been won, but it wasn’t to be and a red card incident replaced it instead. Of all the players on the pitch for the Warriors Craig Gillies is on of the last ones I would have thought
to get a red card.
So that left an anxious wait until the match between the Newcastle Falcons and Northampton Saints on Sunday. With a slender 2 point cushion between The Warriors and The Saints the result of the match
could have sent the Warriors back to the bottom of the league. Much to the relief of the Warrior fans Falcons won 16 – 7, which meant that Saints couldn’t match the losing bonus point the
Warriors had earned the day before.
2 matches left and still on the edge of our seats in both camps. Scary stuff. Who ever thinks that relegation and promotion should be abandoned should take a look at the attendance figures for the
games involving the bottom teams, near on capacity and worth every penny in my book.
The other thing that made the day so good was the banter with the Bristol supporters before during and after the game. It’s what I love most about rugby, Jen and I go to games and stand/sit
amongst passion support for both teams and there is never any acrimony or upset. Just good natured banter and the usual ref baiting. The Warriors support behind the team bench on Saturday was as
noisy as we could possibly make it. Hope the guys appreciated it, we enjoyed singing our heads off. Thanks to the South Stand Choir for allowing us to join them for the day it was great
fun!!!
