A member of my household has suggested that the answer to the “too many games“ conundrum is to totally re-organise the International game along the lines of how International
tournaments are set up in Football.
So instead of the 6 Nations and Tri- Nations there would be new Northern Hemisphere Cup and a similar competition for the Southern Hemisphere which would be played every 4 years. So major there would
be a major International tournament every other year rather than every year. The Autumn internationals would be scrapped as would any Internationals during the season. Plus the tours by Northern
Hemisphere nations at this time of year would also go as they are being severely devalued by very bad planning by the Unions.
Many rugby supporters are either club or country orientated which always makes for interesting discussions but the players are the ones who are bearing the brunt of the horrendously bad planning by
the IRB and National Unions. Club rugby is where the money and development is centred nowadays and one or two of the National Unions have to wake up to the fact that if International Rugby is to
survive and flourish both in quality and popularity, then less is some times more…
