I was very saddened to hear about the death of Luciano Pavarotti yesterday; I knew he was ill with cancer but I didn’t realise he was that ill. Despite the fact that I am predominantly into
rock and metal music I am a huge fan of his and love “Nessun Dorma” to bits.
I had the pleasure of seeing Pavarotti live at the NEC way back in 1992 when I was just 17 years old; I took my Aunty to see him as she was a huge fan of his as well and I remember being literally
moved to tears by his performance, it was so evocative and moving. I will always remember that night I saw him live.
I am about to depart to Italy for a week and I suspect that I will be hearing a lot about him and seeing him on the TV, in the newspapers and in the press once I am there. I’m going to try and
collect some of the press coverage when I am there, and the funeral is to take place tomorrow so I guess I will see it on the TV.
I know that death will come to us all but it is still very sad, and I hope he's up there with all the greats like Freddie Mercury and who knows, they may even be doing a duet of "Barcelona"
together!
RIP Luciano Pavarotti – a legend has left us.
