Its funny how we choose to trust certain people - yet not others. TRUST is such a small word - yet plays a big role in our building of personal relationships. Now i generally am a very open minded
person, i treat people how i would want to be treated myself and i give people the benefit of the doubt 9 times out of 10. But that doesnt mean i would trust someone i didnt know very well. I would
only trust a very small number of people with personal information and this little group only one knows what i would consider "everything" about me...
It is down to bonding and the 'connection' you establish with someone as to whether you trust them. The more you get to know people the better the rapport you establish, the more you learn about them
and the more you feel you have in common. How many people would you trust with very private, personal information about yourself? The chances are very few. But we choose to confide in certain people
because we respect and trust them, probably but not always someone you have known a long time. I usually take a long time to get to that stage with people but very occassionally you meet somebody you
get on with and straight away there is a friendship and level of trust.
Sometimes trusting people can turn round and bite you on the bum, so you have to choose them carefully. Sometimes you dont deliberately set out to share information with others it just happens
because you have established that rapport and you want to be honest with them, so when they share back with you that strengthens the trust between you.
Now some people are reluctant to trust ANYBODY but believe me when you can talk to people about things that are personal it helps you break down barriers and more than likely will help you put those
things into perspective.
With my job i have to quickly establish a rapport with people and they have to trust me with very personal information or issues they need to sort through.
