Life coach corner...

Have you ever wondered why me make decisions that we later think "why did i do that?". We basically think on two levels. To simplify it i will call it the conscious and subconcious. But it is much more complicated than that. For instance can you think back to a time when you have thought "i definately wont ever do that again" and then found yourself doing it? No matter what our good intentions are "i wont eat that cake" or " i wont buy that new pair of shoes" we can find ourselves breaking those rules that we have previously set.....

The good news is that you can do something about it! There are lots of exercises you can do to train yourself to not only exercise more self control but to trigger a different response from your body when you think about a particular thing or action. They say practice makes perfect and this is true in this case. If we train our reactions when we see a spider for example (if that is your phobia) we can learn not necessarily to love spiders but to cope with them. Likewise we can train our minds to have a negative thought everytime we see a cream cake! These reactions have to be reinforced and are an NLP technique but work on similar principles to hypnotherapy. Although the fields are seperate in recent years there has been a blurring of the two and i know of tow hypnotherapists that are now incorporating NLP techniques in their work with clients.

best of luck
