As the season draws to a close it’s quite nice to be looking forward to a final league game that will not have relegation riding on it. Hopefully we and the Warriors will enjoy a day of stress free rugby with boys being able to express themselves for a change, instead of being on tenter hooks for 80 minutes.

Have you ever wondered why me make decisions that we later think "why did i do that?". We basically think on two levels. To simplify it i will call it the conscious and subconcious. But it is much more complicated than that. For instance can you think back to a time when you have thought "i definately wont ever do that again" and then found yourself doing it? No matter what our good intentions are "i wont eat that cake" or " i wont buy that new pair of shoes" we can find ourselves breaking those rules that we have previously set.....

Church schools are in the news again, with doubts being cast on the rigour of their admissions policies. In my experience of a number of Church of England schools in different parts of the country, I have always found that they administer their admissions policies carefully and conscientiously, balancing the requirements of their Christian foundation with the needs of the local community. There is, of course, only controversy about church school admissions policies at the moment because so many are over-subscribed; and that is what those who dislike church schools on principle find it hard to stomach.

OXFORD Colleges can be great places to visit in springtime and on Tuesday Carol and I, together with about 150 people from Worcestershire, went to Oxford for a unique event. We assembled at Trinity College, in the heart of the city, for an occasion inspired and co-ordinated by my former boss and mentor, solicitor David Hallmark, who is a visiting fellow there.

What an amazing weekend i had. I went to Wembley on saturday to see the FA Cup Semi-final between portsmouth and west brom. Ive got to say that after all the hype and critisism wembley is a fantastic stadium. Im not sure the £900 million it cost was really justified but it was an excellent setting for an exciting match.

And what a great day I had. My daughter Jen had paid for the tickets to the European Challenge Cup semi final against Montpellier at Sixways so I decided we would go the whole hog and partake of match day hospitality too. So we booked into box 5 of the South Stand with 9 friends, 2 of whom had birthdays too and 2 others their wedding anniversary.

March has been a month of some particularly tricky weather to play rugby in, to say the least. Going into a series of games, Sale Sharks – away, Leicester Tigers – home, Leeds Carnegie – Home and Gloucester – home I would have been happy with getting 7 points, 3 losing bonuses and a win. Well it just goes to show how un-ambitious I was!! We have ended up with a glorious run of; played 4 won 3 drawn 1.

I I’m sure that deep down in my subconscious I believe that people read this column for my ready wit, tales of incidents during the past week, or maybe in the past years, and all the interest I bring every Friday to the Worcester News.

What is wrong with footballers? It is a sad reflection on our society when some of our greatest role models for kids are spoiled over-paid egotistical big-heads. Now i love football but footballers (and some fans) need to have a long hard look at themselves. Take the Ashley Cole incident.....
