I have been a Warriors supporter for 4 years and a season ticket holder for the last 2 and go to everything!!.... Well nearly everything. I miss the away games in Europe (and no thats not
because I have a travel ban thank you) and the very occasional domestic away game. I pretty much live and breathe rugby, my Dad played and reffed so it's all his fault...
I am married to a Welshman so the 6 nations is all ways a 'fun' affair, have 2 children, both at Uni, one of which, Jen, has been successfully brainwashed so is also a season ticket holder of 2
years.
Top Warriors moment was beating Tigers last season. Best ever Rugby moment was the Heineken Cup Final last season, Munster v Biarritz at the Millennium Stadium, which was totally brilliant. Rugby
hero.... Peter Winterbottom. Fav Warroir Kai Horstmann.
I left Sixways with very little voice left!! 10 minutes to go and we were 10 – 24 down I was not a happy Warriors supporter at all… Still yelling and chanting support most of the time, but I did shout something along the lines of “OK Warriors so what’s different this season then!” and they showed us!! 2 converted trys in 5 minutes!! Wow just amazing stuff.
Went to Bath, with my Dad, the result was a bit disappointing but lets hope the boys are just a bit ring rusty! I had to be on my best behaviour sat in the Helphire Stand with my father! I am sure that he didn’t mind me yelling once or twice during the game.
I think the players are pretty much winding down the pre-season training now that there is 2 weeks to go to the first Premiership match against Bath at The Rec. (To which I have tickets!!) At the same time there have been a gaggle of events building towards the start of the Guinness Premiership on 15th September.
That’s what we did after watching the Warriors first pre-season game at Plymouth Albion, which the Warriors won 19 to 13. The score line resulted in initially leaving me with mixed feelings about the performance. But on reflection, there appeared to be a distinct pattern/plan for the first part of the game.
I have been laid up recovering from dislocating my toe so didn’t go to Twickenham for the Middlesex 7’s this year, and I missed The Warriors getting to the final and losing by just 1 point!!
Not a good summer so far and there is still a long time to go before the new season starts. I won’t be getting a Warrior fix until the first pre-season friendly at home on 1st September.
I went to the Player Awards Evening on Friday Night at Sixways and oh my head in the morning!! It was great evening of good food, good company and far too much to drink!!! But hey most of the players were there to see which of them got the awards this is the full list of who got what….
The Summer so far has been a very interesting one for Warriors fans with the coup of singing Rico Gear, 2 other All Black players and 3 more players who look as if they will fit right in to the Warriors squad.
A member of my household has suggested that the answer to the “too many games“ conundrum is to totally re-organise the International game along the lines of how International tournaments are set up in Football.
Now that the season has finished?? Well no…. This Warriors fan is an all round rugby fan too so last weekend I watched both Premiership semi finals and this weekend it was the Final where Tigers overcame Gloucester in some style. Much as it pains me to say, Tigers are playing the sort of Rugby that I love. Their pack is awesome, using the maul to grind down their opposition and then bring into play their very talented back line. Some of whom could grace any pack’s back row.
And Hello to Mike Ruddock. I have to say I am truly gutted by John leaving. The man has given all he had to Worcester Warriors and so much pleasure to the rugby going public of the city. I hope that he will find success and happiness in what he does next, after he has had a long, long holiday to recover from the pressures of the last season.
What an exhausting day..It started with meeting some fellow Warrior fans in a town centre pub for breakfast. Then on to the first packed bus up to Sixways. Did a tour around the ground stopping off at the ticket office to renew my season ticket, got a program and a couple of pints of cider, as it was still happy hour and generally just soaked up the atmosphere of what could be our last match day in the Prem for a year.
Thanks guys for 3 seasons in the Premiership… so far… Really, really hope it goes on for some time yet, but if the worst comes to the worst, I will be there next season yelling just as loud.
Didn’t win the lottery and the Warriors didn’t get a point at London Irish. So like the end of our first season in the Premiership it will down to the last game before we know our fate. 80 minutes against Saracens will be the end of it either way.
What a Birthday !!!…. Tickets to the Bristol match and seats on the supporters coach courtesy of my lovely daughter as my present.. And then treated to a really enthralling game of rugby.
What a week to go on holiday… Not only did I miss the Falcon’s dramatic game but the A league side’s triumph against Northampton Wanderers, with 3 trys by the legend that is Gavin Quinnell and also missed Chris Horsman getting his first international try, in the Millennium Stadium against England!!! (the only high point for this England fan)
For having to put up with a screaming dervish about 9.45 on Friday night!! Fuelled by red wine, the news that the Warriors had beaten current Premiership Champions Sale 18 – 12 precipitated an ecstatic and very noisy response. I hasten to add that I was on my own which is why the volume went up to maximum and then some!
What a relief!! It was a good game too, the Worcester pack played very well and really disrupted the Bath scrums and especially the lineouts. There several players who have stood out this season for their contributions, Dale Rasumussen, Kai Horstmann, Matt Powell, Craig Gillies, Gary Trueman, and Shane Drahm to name but a few. I could name all the forwards at the club as they all have been superb of late.
And this week I shall have to be on my best behaviour as my Dad will be sitting with me!!! I’ll last about 5 minutes before I start yelling at my usual level…
Just got tougher, it was going to be difficult to get off the foot of the table before Saturday’s matches, Worcester lost to Gloucester and Northampton Saints beat Leicester means so there is now a 7 point gap and Saints have a game in hand.
