Festival, which is a 3 day event in August 2008 showcasing over 100 bands in over 20 venues in Worcester City Centre, with the aim of raising money for Charity including for St Richard’s
Hospice.
She is also a freelance journalist and writer, runs several websites including www.worcesterwomen.net and is often to be found on the Malvern Hills walking her two dogs to relax.
I was very saddened to hear about the death of Luciano Pavarotti yesterday; I knew he was ill with cancer but I didn’t realise he was that ill. Despite the fact that I am predominantly into rock and metal music I am a huge fan of his and love “Nessun Dorma” to bits.
The other Saturday morning I took part in a “Keep Our Post Offices Open” rally outside the main Post Office in Foregate Street. It was organised by the Worcester Conservatives and the Parliamentary Candidate for Worcester, Robin Walker, was in attendance.
Tonight saw the debut gig of Pippa Jennings, Worcester’s brightest up and coming female vocalist to date at the Virgin Tavern in Worcester. She started off her set with the popular track “Sound of the Underground” by Girls Aloud, where she brought a unique and fresh energy and style.
Friday 25th May 2007 sees the debut of one of Worcester’s most promising singers to date, Pippa Jennings, at the Virgin Tavern on the Tolladine Road in Worcester. Pippa is a rare breed because unlike many wannabe singers out there, she actually has plenty of talent and charisma which will be evident in her debut performance.
Last night saw the annual Eurovision Song Contest take place in Helsinki, hosted there because metal band Lordi won last year’s Eurovision song contest by a mile. I can’t believe that it is a year since Lordi won Eurovision, it seems like two minutes ago.
This is just a very quick entry before I depart for the warmer climes of Tunisia. I am in much need of a holiday as I have had a very busy and hectic year so far and it has been a while since my last holiday too. My case is packed, my sun tan lotion is packed and all that remains for me to do is to get to the airport and get my flight.
This weekend saw the arrival of a much awaited event in my calendar – the start of the Grand Prix season with the Australian Grand Prix, and what a start it was!
I was cheered up this morning no end to hear that Ben Mills who took part in last years X Factor is releasing his first single on Monday called “Beside You”. I have been hooked on Ben and his voice from the moment I first saw him audition on X Factor last year, and I knew he was different.
For the last two weeks I have been glued to the TV on a Tuesday night at 9pm with the welcome return of Life on Mars to BBC-1. I loved every episode of the first series and was over the moon when they said they were making another series as I love 1970’s culture, music and TV and everything about the 70’s.
As I write this much of the UK is covered with a thick blanket of heavy snow. It started on Wednesday night and hasn’t stopped much since, and ironically where I live in the Midlands (Worcester) we usually escape it with the brunt of any bad weather affecting the surrounding areas due to the shelter of the Malvern Hills and the city being in a dip. Not so this time.
Well it’s been an interesting week. My right hand has been really sore with a very swollen tendon so I’ve had it strapped up for the majority of the week, trying to rest it as best I can around everything I have to do and I’ve been very tired as it has been waking me up in the night with the pain. This is despite taking anti-inflammatories and painkillers and keeping it strapped up. To be honest it is beginning to do my head in now, so I think a visit to the docs about it will be in order if it doesn’t go down in the next couple of days.
Last night was the long awaited return of Top Gear and more importantly of Richard “The Hamster” Hammond following his horrific car crash last year in a jet powered car at over 300mph where he nearly died from severe head and brain injuries.
Well not literally, it’s a line from the song “Rock n Roll All Night” by Kiss and I’m listening to it because I’m addicted to Family Jewels at the moment and I am not ashamed to admit that I can’t stop watching it.
