That Was The Week That Was

Well what a week it has been! Lots of stories in the media, various debacles on the part of Channel4 and Celebrity Big Brother/Shipwrecked, the Home Secretary John Reid and Devonshire Police and it’s RIP Grandstand.

Great British Weather

Last week we were battered by vicious storms across the whole of the country. They started on Thursday and caused huge amounts of damage from north to south, east to west and felled trees, blew down walls roofs and other structures and killed at least 11 people.

Dogs & Dog Owners

I’m going to write a bit on a controversial subject and one that I have noticed has been covered on this website, of the dogs that have been dumped back at various kennels and rescue shelters across Worcestershire. People are panicking since the reporting of the tragedies in Merseyside and Leicester when - and I stress - IT IS NOT THE DOGS FAULT!

Back To Normal - With A Vengeance!

I’ve had a bit of a strange week this week, hence why I haven’t posted since about Tuesday. Suddenly it seemed that everyone suddenly woke up from after Christmas and New Year and then BANG – I was back into things and very busy. One thing that gets me about the UK is the fact that in many industries, unless you are in retail (which of course I am not), everything seems to shut down for ages before Christmas and for a while after New Year. Then suddenly everything picks up and it’s manic.

Bring Back The Christmas Number One!

One thing that I think has been really lacking in recent years has been the absence of a decent Christmas number 1 in the charts. Years ago in the 1970’s and 1980’s the Christmas number 1 was of paramount importance with many festive tracks from artists such as Slade, Wizzard, Mud, Boney M, Wham, Queen, Jona Lewie (he was an odd one!), Cliff Richard (the master of the Christmas number 1, he’s even released one this year with Brian May), The Pogues and many more.

Fitness Fanatic

I think I am one of the few people this time of year who is still exercising and working out, going by the numbers at the Body Combat class I was in last night. This time of year it seems that everyone’s routines go to the wall, gym classes are missed, social do’s and gatherings are abundant, there is more Christmas food and treats than we know how to handle and then consequently, come January, the gym I go to is packed and heaving with people all desperate to get the weight off that they have gained over the festive season!

Water Water Everywhere!

I was driving into town this morning and my goodness the river is up again! Its flooded out round by Browns restaurant where it always floods and is very close to getting onto the Hylton Road. It’s a good job that flood barriers were installed last Friday night!

Hello Everyone :)

Hi everyone, my first post has been a bit delayed due to having a nasty cold virus, but I thought a good place to start would be to introduce myself! I'm Lisa and I live in the Lower Wick area of Worcester and I've lived in Worcester all my life. I love it here and love the fact that Worcester has everything within easy reach, the people are really nice and there is always something to do!
