I will be undertaking my charity walk from Lands End to John O'Groats starting on 20th March 2007, in support of the British Red Cross and also trying to raise some funds for a summer camp for
deaf and hard of hearing children organised by Deaf Direct. I live in Stourport on Severn and used to work at Littlewoods Shop direct until the redundancies in September 2006. Redundancy has spurred
me on to look at doing something different and useful with life, and this charity walk I hope will be a good start.

On route to John O'Groats
I started my trip from Lands End to John O'Groats but found I was unable to maintain this blog from my PDA. Bit of a bind but I have been keeping things noted at another blog here Island Odyssey Blog or you can link to it viaMy Website

Not posted for some time due to my eldest daughter being very close to giving birth and lots of other things going on. Haven't seemed to have time to do anything.

Two walks and a play in the snow
Tuesday and Wednesday saw me doing two training walks with the full full weight I'll be carrying for similar distances when I'm on my way to John O'Groats.

Around Kinder Reservoir
Went walking yesterday in the peak district with a friend. The walk was not as long as previous days, but the terrain was tougher with more climbs and the weather was worse. We walked from Hayfield and while we were getting our boots and coats on out of the back of the car, a lady stopped to talk to us.

Arley to Stourport and Back
Walked today from Stourport to Arley and back covering 12.6 miles. I carried weight equivalent to what I will be carrying during the walk itself, but left Annie at home today. All up weight, me and equipment tipped the scales at 100Kg or 220lb for those who don't do metric.

Wyre Forest Wander
Went out for another training walk on Tuesday across the Wyre forest. Resusci Anne came with me this time strapped to my rucksack to add weight with a few other items inside. Started by the Blount Arms on the A4117 Cleobury Road.

No getting out of it now...
The walk across the Malverns was glorious, was chilly but bright and sunny. Walked with friends from British camp along to Eastnor park. Carried Annie as planned but only covered 6 miles. Some good views of the flooding from up there. Nice gentle pace and finished off at the pub by the car park at British Camp with a pint and a steak sandwich. Lovely!!

Sore feet!!
Ouch my feet!! Haven't even started the main event and I'm getting aching feet already, but I must keep plugging on. I'm thinking professional assistance is needed to make sure my feet and ankles are properly supported with insoles etc. As the weather is looking fine for tomorrow I think a trip to the Malverns will be in order and an attempt at 10 miles with a bit of kit. Do I take Annie, I think I ought to so as to get used to the riducule I will endure on the main walk :0) I'm sure it'll all be good natured leg pulling as I find most people you meet are decent and friendly.

Across Britain with Annie
My plan to walk Lands End to John O'Groats came about from the knowledge of impending unemployment last year, and saying I would like to do a few of the long distance paths. After much talking and considering the North Coast of Wales, Pembrokeshire Coast Path, and Offas Dyke we settled on the South West Coast Path, and so led to 3 of us going off down to Cornwall and doing part of this route from Newquay to Penzance.
