AN apprenticeship programme to be offered at Malvern's National Cyber Skills Centre has been awarded the highest industry rating by cyber security employers.

TDM Wyre Academy of Bewdley will deliver its higher apprenticeship in information security level four, which has been rated tech industry gold, to both new entrants and existing IT professionals.

The programme covers technical, business and interpersonal areas, designed to ensure apprentices have an appropriate set of skills to operate in today’s information security job roles. The course received its official launch during a Malvern Cyber Lunch networking event, hosted by the academy, a few weeks ago.

Tech industry gold apprenticeships are programmes accredited by a group of employers with the support of e-skills UK, which are recognised by industry for their quality and ability to accelerate productivity.

Debbie Tunstall, NCSC centre manager, said: “With TDM Wyre Academy running its information security apprenticeship with us, it will open up the centre to a whole new audience, while also re-iterating the importance of being cyber safe. Gaining tech industry gold accreditation is a fantastic achievement and highlights the integrity of the course, as well as the ever-growing importance of learning about cyber security in a society which is so reliant on technology.”

Apprenticeships are not only for 16-25 year olds. Anyone of any age can become an apprentice if they would like to retrain in the information security sector, providing they have an employer to support this and more employers are being asked to come forward to bring on the next generation of IT security professionals.
