THERE'S no stopping the powerful paddlers propelling the dragonboat of Webbs Garden Centres of Wychbold.

Having triumphed for the second year running in a charity dragon boat race in Pershore, the team has now been invited to take on further competition at a national charity race at the Water Sports Centre in Nottingham on September 21.

Webbs' crew proved the strongest throughout the day during racing at Pershore Phoenix Dragon Boat race and fun day on the River Avon, which was helping to raise funds for Acorns Children’s Hospice, one of the garden centre’s chosen charities of the year.

Mark Goddard, the Webbs team leader said, “It was a really good, fun day, everyone enjoyed themselves and it was a great team building experience. We won our first race with a time of 1 min 7 seconds and then improved throughout the day to win the final and set a new time record of 1min 1.34 secs. We also won the Garden Centre challenge by beating St Peter’s by 0.94 seconds.”
