THIS year's Cheltenham Literary Festival is being brightened up by a spectacular garden designed for the recent Malvern Autumn Show.

The colourful display, the work of Royal Horticultural Society designer Caroline Tatham, was transported from the Three Counties showground and rebuilt in the spa town's Imperial Square for the event which runs until Sunday, October 12.

Ken Nottage, chief executive of the Three Counties Agricultural Society, said: “RHS Malvern is thrilled to be part of this innovative collaboration with The Times and The Sunday Times Cheltenham Literature Festival. Much like reading, gardening is for everyone and an activity that brings different generations together. We intend to inspire the next generation of gardeners and our striking feature garden on Imperial Square offers just a taste of the creativity that is displayed at RHS Malvern Spring Festival, which will run from May 7-10, 2015 where around 20 show gardens will take top billing, several produced by RHS Gold Medal winning designers. RHS Malvern is hosted by the Three Counties Agricultural Society (Gloucestershire, Herefordshire & Worcestershire) in Malvern and here in Cheltenham we are delighted to be celebrating our connection with Gloucestershire. “

Cheltenham Literature Festival director Jane Furze added: "We’re so excited to have this literature inspired RHS Malvern Garden at this year’s Literature Festival. It’s a spectacular installation that perfectly chimes with the Festival’s manifesto to bring thought-provoking debate, big ideas and cutting-edge culture to Cheltenham.”
