MIKE Carroll's new business idea in Worcester is certainly not to be sniffed at.
Because he has opened a scented candle shop in New Street, which is a complete departure from his previous career in wholesale soft drinks and snacks supplying to the retail trade.
"This is a totally new experience for me and I am learning all the time," said Mr Carroll, who now runs Gallery Candles. "The main brand I stock is Kringle, which is an American product created by the son of the original Yankee candle owner Mike Kittredge. I am the only shop in Worcestershire stocking them. I also stock Stoneglow, which are handmade candles here in the UK and other lines include diffusers, dinner candles, pillar candles, T-lights and oil burners. I also try to encourage local crafts people and have some hand made cards by a Worcestershire artist and ceramic love hearts also locally handmade.
"I feel the community spirit is important and therefore want to encourage a friendly environment within the shop so that shoppers can feel relaxed when browsing for any gifts or self pampering presents."
