A PHOTOGRAPHIC competition to encourage dog walkers to Worcestershire has been won by a picture of a dog on Hartlebury Common.

It was taken by Terry Mobbs of Stourport-on-Severn and features his pet Jenson silhouetted against a stunning sunset.

Called Visit Woofcestershire, the competition was organised by Visit Worcestershire in conjunction with pet food firm Royal Canin, with Mr Mobbs and Jenson now winning a year's supply of Royal Canin. However, he has given his prize to the Midlands and Northern Rhodesian Ridgeback Support and Rescue Trust, which relies solely on donations.

He said: "I am delighted that I have won the 'Woofcestershire' photograph competition and am pleased to be able to help the Rhodesian Ridgeback Support and Rescue Trust by donating the prize of a years worth of Royal Canin dog food. The trust do a wonderful job and completely rely on donations so I'm sure the food will really help them out."

Entrants sent in photographs of their dogs enjoying the Worcestershire countryside, attractions and accommodation and the public voted for their favourite via the Visit Worcetsershire website. There are a huge variety of walking routes available for those who want to go for a stroll with their favourite family pet. Among those are the ancient Wyre Forest, the magnificent Malvern Hills, the Vale of Evesham, the Clent Hills, the river and canal network and many country parks and outdoor spaces.
