WORCESTER'S award winning manufacturer Gtech has unveiled plans for an impressive new £5 million headquarters.

Currently based at Spetchley, the company which makes cordless power floor care and garden products hopes to move to a new site just off the M5 at junction six at Warndon. This will include research, customer services, manufacturing, design and distribution facilities to deal with the increasing demand for its product range and aims to to provide "a superior customer experience".

Nick Grey, owner and founder of Gtech, said: “Our mission is to provide the best loved floor-care and garden products in the world. I really want to keep Gtech local. The company started in my living room in Crowle and with the site at junction six we could provide a beautiful area where Worcester people can visit us to try our products or just see what we do. It will also support the company’s continued growth and an opportunity for us to continue to invest in the city and contribute significantly to the local economy.”

Gtech has sold more than 22 million products in 19 countries worldwide and is the UK’s fastest growing floor-care brand with a workforce of 50.

"The proposed new headquarters building doubles our current space and represents an investment into the city’s economy of at least £5 million," Mr Grey added. "It will maximise the growth potential of the company, secure existing jobs and give the potential for the company to continue to grow, supporting up to 100 jobs in future years."

The building designed by local multi-disciplinary design firm One Creative Environments will have many sustainable features, including low energy design, high thermal performance and rainwater harvesting and will be set in landscape grounds with increased bio-diversity and a green buffer. Plans are to be put on public display at a consultation exhibition on Wednesday, December 10 between 1pm and 5.30pm at Worcester Guildhall
