A WORCESTER-based specialist in cordless cleaners and power tools has been named among the UK's fastest growing companies.

Gtech, currently headquartered at Spetchley, but with plans to develop new premises off Berkeley Way, Warndon Villages, has been listed in the "ones to recognise" section of 16th annual Sunday Times BDO Profit Track 100, which ranks Britain’s private companies with the fastest-growing profits over the last three years.

In a highly competitive market, the popularity of Gtech’s flagship cordless AirRam vacuum has helped propel profits from £27,000 in 2011 to £6.5m last year. Launched in April 2012, Gtech AirRam sales are now approaching 500,000 units and the company expects to double profits this year to £12m.

Gtech chief executive and founder, Nick Grey said: “It is a great privilege to be recognised in this way. At Gtech we focus on providing products designed to perform to the highest standards in a home environment. We pride ourselves on fair pricing and our profits reflect the staff’s dedication to provide outstanding customer service, and products that people genuinely love.”

Mr Grey left Vax at Droitwich in 2001 to design his own cordless floor sweeper from his home office, funded by his own savings. His company’s latest high performance vacuums are cordless, lightweight and easy to use. Gtech sells a large proportion of its products direct to consumers online and by telephone.
