A SERVICE has been launched in Worcester to restore used household furniture to its former glory.

It's being run by Brendan Jones, a technician with the Furniture Industry Research Association, which carries out repairs on behalf of many of the UK’s top retailers and manufacturers.

Mr Jones said: "Even in the most careful household, furniture can get damaged, start to look untidy or simply become uncomfortable. It is usually worth finding out if an item of furniture can be repaired and our customers are often surprised at how good a repair can be.

“This new service complements our existing repair service for retailers and manufacturers. We were receiving a large number of requests to carry out repairs to furniture which is out of warranty, so we decided to launch this service directly to consumers.”

In the furnishing trade for more than 25 years, Mr Jones has extensive knowledge of furnishing and upholstery, including from complete re-upholstery, bespoke furniture and general furniture repairs. He also has experience using a wide range of fabrics from all the major manufacturers and has taught upholstery to students and apprentices.

He is one of nearly 90 experienced furniture repair technicians based throughout the UK who can fix a wide range of furniture problems, including damage to wooden furniture, leather, electric and manual recliners and beds. A technician will visit your home to first inspect the item of furniture and provide a quote for a repair.
