A DEVELOPMENT site manager has picked up a top industry award for his work at a site with difficult access.

Derek Colley of Oakleaf Commercial Services took the west of England category at the Regional Site Manager Awards organised by the Local Authority Building Control Warranty.

It was for his management of the new Broadwaters development in Kidderminster, which is now complete and consists of 19 properties – eight one bedroom apartments, one two bedroom bungalow and 10 two bedroom houses. The site had restricted access but OCS and Mr Colley took extra steps to ensure that disruption to the residents was kept to a minimum.

Ian Hancock, managing director of Oakleaf Commercial Services, said: "This is fabulous news for both Oakleaf and Derek and we are extremely proud of his achievement. It is a prestigious award and Derek deserves this for delivering such a high quality development.”

The Site Manager Awards recognise and reward site managers working with LABC Warranty who achieve excellence in construction and demonstrate exceptional site management and workmanship. The judges look for an assertive leader who is forward thinking and can demonstrate good organisation skills and safety processes, while maintaining a clean and tidy site, and creating a positive culture. Mr Colley now goes forward to represent the West of England region in the finals in November 2015.
