WORCESTER training company Quanta has won a major national award for its work in helping members of the armed forces resettle into civilian life.

It has picked up the service leavers training company of the year at the Resettlement Awards, which mark the achievements of service leavers who have achieved extraordinary things in their civilian life, as well as the companies that support them through the process.

Quanta managing director Julian Ward said: "The whole Quanta team is extremely proud to have won this prestigious award. We have worked hard to ensure that our courses and customer service meets the needs of service leavers to give them the best chance of success in their civilian lives. I want to continue the good work that won us this award, and ensure that we help soldiers transition back to civilian life for many years to come."

Based in The Moors, Worcester, Quanta was founded more than 20 years ago and now employs 50 people. It specialises in developing and delivering high impact training interventions in project management, management development, IT and IT service management. Its customers include the Ministry of Defence, Worcester City Council, Jaguar Land Rover, West Mercia Police, and the University of Oxford.

Mr Ward added: "An important part of our business, and for which we won the award, is the work we do with those leaving the armed forces and resettling back into civilian life. These soldiers have access to funding to help them re-train in a new civilian profession when they leave the forces. At Quanta we have a dedicated resettlement team who have designed specific course bundles in the area of project management, IT and IT service management. These bundles combine different courses and qualifications based upon the soldiers career ambitions and ensure that soldiers receive the best value from the funding available to them and that they obtain industry recognised qualifications which will help them find employment. Our resettlement team advise soldiers on qualifications which will help them achieve their career goals and help them navigate the sometimes complicated resettlement process.

"We deliver training courses to those leaving the forces at our Worcester training centre as well as at locations near bases across the UK, as well UK Military bases in Germany and Cyprus, and have now trained more than 4000 service leavers.

"Quanta also provides additional support through our online learning platform Quanta Learn. Here the soldiers can access their pre-course work and additional resources such as quiz’s and further reading. Importantly the soldiers then have access to Quanta learn for a year after their course, and can ask their tutors questions after they have found employment and are implementing their new knowledge for real in their new jobs."
