AMBITIOUS businesses from across Worcestershire and Herefordshire hoping to take their first steps into the export market received expert advice at a unusual roadshow.

Representatives from nearly 40 companies visited the UK Trade and Investment Exporting is GREAT vehicle, after it parked at LG Harris in Stoke Prior, Bromsgrove. The 32-tonne truck, which has been transformed into an export hub, is travelling around the country as part of the Government’s most ambitious campaign yet to get 100,000 more UK businesses exporting by 2020.

Linda Smith, head of international trade at UKTI Herefordshire and Worcestershire, said: "The turn out for the three-hour event really demonstrated the appetite among business owners to seek new markets. We are seeing real enthusiasm among businesses in the area who want to expand their horizons and take advantage of the opportunities there are in overseas markets. Our advisers spoke to representatives from companies that span a huge range of sectors – all of whom are keen to take their goods and services abroad for the first time or who want to try new countries. The roadshow showed that it’s an exciting time for businesses in Herefordshire and Worcestershire.”

The international trade team in Herefordshire and Worcestershire already help more than 1,600 companies in the region to export and this number is set to grow significantly over the next few years.
