PEOPLE have been inundating a new homes development in Worcester with donations for the city's food bank.

Bloor Homes set up a drop-off point in the marketing suite at its Wildmore site in Spetchley Road and has been overwhelmed by the seasonal spirit of giving.

The developers' regional sales manager Sally Holt said: "This is the season of giving, and we wanted to do everything we can to help families who might be struggling financially this Christmas. As soon as locals found out that we were collecting food for Worcester Food Bank, we were inundated with generous donations. We’d like to say thank you to all those who have donated so far and invite anyone else who may be in the position to donate some food to drop it in to our marketing suite, where they will be warmly welcomed.”

Donations such as rice, pasta, tinned meat, fish, vegetables and fruit, sugar, tea bags and instant coffee, jam and biscuits can be dropped off and will then be sent to the Trussell Trust and distributed to local foodbanks.

Worcester Food Bank opened in June 2012 in Carden Court, Carden Close and has already helped thousands of people, with 120,000 meals given out since its launch.
