BRANSFORD Webbs, the nurseries which supply more than 400 garden centres across the UK, has achieved a top accreditation for environmental management for the eighth year running.

Known as Bransford Webbs Plant Company, the business beside the main Worcester-Hereford road opposite the Bank House Hotel, first achieved BS8555 accreditation for environmental management in 2008 and has since aimed to improve its environmental credentials and retain the accreditation.

Geoff Caesar, managing director, said: "“Garden plants are one of the few products any company can supply that go on to have a positive environmental impact. The product we grow is ‘green’ by its very nature and we firmly believe that we should grow

and distribute our plants in the most suitable way we can.

"The accreditation audit which took place recently, with Tarian Inspection Services, consisted of a day’s audit of our environmental credentials and a site tour. A number of environmental objectives have been achieved in 2016 with the main success being the investigation

and subsequent design and installation of new spraying equipment for the glasshouses. The boom sprayer has led to a significant reduction in spray volume application through a number of factors including more even coverage, different nozzle sizes and reduced pressure."
