A 13-ACRE development site in Worcester, next to a former golf course, has changed hands.

The land off Newtown Road, which has been earmarked for more than 60 new homes, has been sold to Amber Residential Property on behalf of utilities giant Severn Trent by property agents Harris Lamb. The site already has outline planning consent for 61 dwellings, which will include 24 affordable homes. Construction is expected to begin later this year.

Andrew Lamb, director of Harris Lamb, said: "This particular site was in high demand with developers thanks to its prime location – the land is close to the former Tolladine golf course and has fantastic views – and the sale was completed in less than six weeks. Demand for residential land has surged over the past 18 months as confidence has returned as the sector; something that initiatives such as the government’s Help To Buy scheme and developers’ commitment to provide affordable units have supported."

Amber will begin the construction of the homes later this year.
