TWO sporting stars have backed Worcester Bosch Group campaign to support local deserving youth sports teams.

The city-based central heating boiler manufacturer is searching for deserving youth sports teams, to receive a surprise visit and £1,000 donation towards their club.

Former England footballer and I’m a Celebrity contestant, Wayne Bridge, as well as ex-England rugby union champion and ‘Dancing on Ice’ winner, Kyran Bracken have been showing their support for the scheme.

Mr Bridge recently visited the league he played in as a child in Hampshire, to surprise Littleton Juniors FC, while Mr Bracken visited his first ever rugby club, Firwood Waterloo FC in Liverpool.

The sports starts joined in with pep talks and a coaching session, while they provided hot drinks and refreshment to those watching on the sidelines.

After the games, a final surprise was in store for the teams as the sports personalities each presented a £1,000 cheque to the clubs, on behalf of the Worcester Bosch Group.

Mr Bridge said: "Being a dad-of-three I know just how important it is to encourage the younger generation to pursue a sporting passion, so I’m grateful to the parents and coaches who put in the time and effort to support their teams every week.

“Teaming up with Worcester to return to the league that started my career was an unforgettable experience, and the perfect opportunity to give something back to the next generation of footballers and their parents – and say thank you for their support.”

Mr Bracken added: “Firwood Waterloo FC is where it all started for me so it was a real honour to be able to return to my roots and surprise the players and parents."

The firm are now calling for people in Worcestershire to nominate a deserving local youth team, who will be in with a chance to receive a visit and donation when the season kicks off again in September.

Sue Pennington, consumer brand manager at Worcester, Bosch Group, said: “It was a fantastic experience teaming up with Wayne and Kyran to surprise their youth leagues and make the day really special for everyone involved.

"Youth sport is such an important part of local communities, so this year we wanted to give something back – not just to the players, but to the parents and coaches who give up their time and energy every week to celebrate their children’s love of sport."

To nominate a worthy club, visit worcester-bosch.co.uk/rely before Sunday 30th July, stating in 100 words why the team deserves a surprise visit from Worcester.
