WORCESTER energy specialist E2 Energy Management Services has been appointed by manufacturing firm Bird Stevens to advise the company how to invest £25,000 in state-of-the-art low-carbon technologies.
The energy-saving specialist in County House, St Mary’s Street, are leading Bird Stevens in implementing the changes required at its Brierley Hill plant to enforce energy-saving technology in order to commit to the climate change agreement.
These will see the manufacturing firm install low carbon technologies, including a new automated metering system, intelligent space heating control system and new compressed air system.
Bird Stevens will be able to monitor energy use via half-hourly readings for the first time and reduce energy via its new heating control system and compressed air system.
The waste heat from the compressor will also provide free heating for part of the factory.
The projects will reduce the heating energy consumption by 22 per cent and compressed air usage by 45 per cent, saving the firm £10,000 a year in energy costs.
Carl Revens, operations manager at E2, said: “By taking action to reduce and implement new equipment, Bird Stevens will not only be significantly reducing their energy consumption, they will also be leading the way in the manufacturing sector.”
