Centre has sweet smell of success

STAFF at Webbs in Wychbold, near Droitwich, are celebrating after the garden centre was officially crowned the best houseplant department in the UK.

The family-owned firm scooped the top prize after inspection by judges from the Garden Centre Association, the organisation representing the best garden retailers in Britain.

Judges took into account the range, quality and presentation of the plants and how they are marketed. Webbs had already been named GCA best garden centre in the Midlands, but has now added best houseplant area award too.

Executive chairman Ed Webb said: “Plants are at the heart of Webbs and we strive to give our customers top quality, well presented plants which they can enjoy in their homes or give as lovely presents.”

Webbs, which beat about 160 other garden retailers to take the award, will be holding a festival of houseplants throughout May.
