TWENTY-three-years-old Isobel Coulter from Alfrick was among a group of young people who met the Minister for the West Midlands, Ian Austin, at a breakfast meeting in Birmingham to promote the Government’s Backing Young Britain Campaign.
Miss Coulter, who has secured a position with the Three Counties Agricultural Society at Malvern through the campaign, joined TV’s The Apprentice winner Tim Campbell, business leaders and others at the Cineworld Cinema in Birmingham’s Broad Street.
The Backing Young Britain campaign aims to bring national and local Government, businesses and the public and voluntary sectors together to create new opportunities for young people aged 16-24. This can be through either offering an apprenticeship, giving a young person a job or providing experience of work.
Miss Coulter started working at the TCAS in December last year as a graduate intern. She is now working as a marketing, PR and shows assistant for the Malvern Showground four days a week. She spends the fifth day at the University of Worcester studying for a postgraduate certificate in applied management.
She said: “I have landed an exciting and varied job, which has been a fantastic boost to my confidence. I’m still learning business skills at the University of Worcester, but I now have the chance to use them in the workplace. It’s a great opportunity to kick-start a career and build my future prospects.”
Mr Austin said: “I am delighted to be Backing Young Britain and supporting young people in the West Midlands.
“Young people can help bring fresh ideas, skills and enthusiasm to any organisation.”
