TM Logistics, part of Taylors of Martley, has been short-listed as Haulier of the Year in the Motor Transport Awards 2006, the `Oscars' of the industry.

Based near Worcester, TM Logistics is one of four finalists vying for the coveted title, which attracted a record number of entries in this, its 20th anniversary year.

The awards celebrate the outstanding achievements of the industry and recognise innovation, service, efficiency and quality. Grahame Taylor, executive director of TM Logistics, which last year had a turnover of £10m, said: "Stability has been the key to our success over the past decade.

"Eighty per cent of what we do is contracted and we run many dedicated vehicles in customers' liveries."

The firm's main areas of business are the food and drink packaging, and automotive and building industries, with customers including Coca-Cola.

Now in its 66th year, the company aims to be in the top 10 of family-owned logistics businesses by targeting new and existing market sectors. It has 200 vehicles, 350 trailers and 400 staff, along with 1.3m sq ft of warehousing.

Mr Taylor added: "At the heart of our success is our long-term relationships with our customers. We are constantly talking with our customers about how we can reduce their costs, provide a better service and find new solutions for them.

"As recognised Investors in People, our staff are vital to our performances.

"Being short-listed for this award is a great endorsement of their hard work and achievements."

The Motor Transport Awards will be announced on Wednesday, July 12, at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.
