THE art of double entry acccounting has been taken to another level by the Worcester firm of McKnights.

Clients are getting double for their money because two members of the staff are identical twin brothers.

Twenty-eight-year -old Mark and Kevin Smith work from McKnights' offices in Britannia Court.

Mark, the older twin by just two minutes, joined the firm of accountants nearly nine years ago, and has worked alongside the partners to become an integral part of the team. His professionalism and enthusiasm makes him popular among clients who appreciate his straight talking approach and recognise his loyalty.

Kevin, who joined McKnights at the beginning of May, has been brought in to help develop and expand the existing payroll division and set up a computerised construction industry scheme processing service ready for the changes to be introduced in April 2007.

Kevin has spent his career in finance, initially working in the payroll department of Dolphin Bathrooms and until recently as the payroll manager for Forest Gardens plc.

He said: "People think that payroll is straightforward and it runs itself, but it doesn't. There are so many elements, which need to be taken into consideration, and it is a subject that is constantly changing, whether it be taking on new people, calculating holiday or sick pay or more regrettably redundancy pay. Obviously you have to get it right as people's pay is a very sensitive subject."

McKnights tax partner, John Elliott added: "With constant changes to legislation many organisations are outsourcing their payroll and it is important that we provide a comprehensive, cost efficient and confidential payroll and construction industry service to clients.

"We are very pleased to have Kevin on board. We know that he will be a great asset to the firm."
