A WORCESTER company that provides solutions to environmental problems has bought a former builder’s yard to accommodate its growing workforce.
Spectrum Environmental has seen rapid growth in sales and increased staff levels in recent years. Moving from its previous premises in Wylds Lane, Worcester, means the company now has more space for its three divisions – Air Spectrum, Waste Spectrum and Energy Spectrum.
Spectrum Environmental acquired the former Spicers (Builders) Ltd site on Checketts Lane Industrial Estate, Worcester, after the building firm went into liquidation.
The structures of the two-storey office building and three workshops will remain the same but their interiors will undergo a complete refurbishment to upgrade the office space, staff facilities and manufacturing floor areas.
Steve Hunt, group managing director of Spectrum Environmental, said: “The company has always been based in Worcester so we are pleased to have found a larger property in the area that has more space for the three divisions. The main building on the site will allow us to work across two floors of offices which suits our requirements going forward.”
Rob Champion, partner of property firm Halls Commercial, said: “We are delighted that this vacant industrial site has been purchased by a local manufacturing company that will use the space to its full potential.
“Spectrum Environmental is a well-established Worcester business and it is fantastic that they have chosen to remain here, thereby retaining employment locally and showing the rest of the country that Worcester is a good place to run a successful, growing business.“ Spectrum Environmental was founded in 1994 by husband and wife team Steve Hunt and Elizabeth Hunt, group director. The firm employs 35 people.
