Christmas cheer is here with council’s website

CHRISTMAS is the season of goodwill so it is the perfect time for businesses to help each other out, according to a Worcestershire business leader.

Kathryn Wagstaff, project manager of Finditinworcestershire, a networking organisation that supports the business community locally, is urging businesses to encourage each other to sign up to the website finditinworcestershire.com.

Contracts worth £15 million – over five years – are currently being advertised on finditinworcestershire.com, the Worcestershire County Council-developed website that matches local businesses together and offers support to pitch for new contracts.

About 20-30 opportunities are available on the business-to-business website, which is supported by regular Finditinworcestershire networking events.

Current opportunities include one posted by Redditch Borough Council, which is seeking contractors to work on council-owned domestic properties throughout the Redditch area. This contract includes the supply and installation of bathrooms, kitchens, central heating and electrical systems. Other recent contracts include one offered by the London 2012 Olympics.

The ethos behind the website is to make finding opportunities for new business less time-consuming and expensive by bringing a broad range of potential contracts into one place. They can then be accessed by handy e-mail alerts.

Finditinworcestershire’s project manager said the diversity of opportunities available on the website makes it the perfect tool for any local businesses, both large and small.

Ms Wagstaff said: “Local businesses should encourage, support and help each other. This festive season is the perfect time for people to encourage other local businesses to sign up to Finditinworcestershire.com. Who knows, a business tipped off to sign up could even end up landing a big contract. It could be the best Christmas present someone receives this year. It will generate a great deal of goodwill and help the county’s economy as a whole, which is good news for everyone.”
