Forget I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here - schoolchildren have voted a Kidderminster local politician the winner of I'm A Councillor, Get Me Out Of Here!

Fran Oborski beat off competition from four other county councillors, including last year's winner, Worcester's John Buckley, and Stourport's Jill Fairbrother Mills in the competition, where pupils from schools around the county monitored the councillors' views over the internet and voted the least popular ones out at various points.

Mrs Oborski said: "I was dead chuffed to win. I was very impressed with the quality and maturity of some of the questions."

She was particularly impressed with Bewdley High School pupils' concerns for the need for social housing and those of an Evesham middle school, where youngsters complained about the lack of public transport.

Mrs Oborski added: "I have resolved to be even keener than before to fight for a fairer deal for rural transport. A lot of the young people felt they were being done to rather than consulted about what facilities they wanted and where they should be.

"It brought home to me that if you engage youngsters in serious conversations about things that matter, how very mature kids of 13 and 14 can be. The majority of kids are extremely thoughtful, intelligent young people. They are the future and we must allow them to be involved."
