SOME of my fondest memories of the Seventies revolve around the music of the Eagles; seeing them live for the first time at Bingley Hall in Stafford and cruising around in my boyfriend's battered old Saab listening to their Greatest Hits.

With their tours so infrequent, fans in this country have to rely on Eagles tribute bands and undoubtedly Talon are streets ahead of the rest. As part of their tenth anniversary tour they appeared before a sell out crowd at the Swan Theatre and it is easy to see why they have such a dedicated following.

As complex as the music is, Talon make it look so simple as they accurately recreate the legendary West Coast country-rock sounds for which the Eagles are renowned. The band performed a tight set of Eagles hits that had the audience believing they were in the presence of Don Henley and Co. Take It Easy, Lyin' Eyes, Desperado, to name but a few, were all played and sung to perfection. I was blown away by Jonny Miller's stunning version of Love Will Keep Us Alive and Hotel California reminded me that the guitar solo remains the greatest riff ever written.

However, the highlight had to be Seven Bridges Road in which their close pitch perfect harmonies were simply awesome. Then, all too soon, the evening was over but as I sadly trudged out into the cool night air, I was suddenly overcome by a Peaceful Easy Feeling.
