Magoffin poised for County
Exclusive By Michael Reeves

STEVE Magoffin is set to be named as Worcestershire's overseas player for the first half the season, your Worcester News can reveal.

While the New Road club are refusing to comment, the Western Australia seamer is set to complete his move to the 2007 NatWest Pro40 champions this week.

The former Leicestershire and Surrey quick has taken 124 first class wickets at an average of 28.13 and is set to join the County in April until July.

The 28-year-old has had a good Pura Cup campaign for former Worcestershire coach Tom Moody's side taking 14 wickets at 27.21.

A tall rangy seamer, Magoffin came through the Queensland set-up before moving to the WACA in 2004.

Last summer he played for Surrey with his biggest haul coming in an early Friends Provident Trophy match against Kent in April where he took four for 58 in 8.2 overs.

With the county announcing this morning that they have captured West Indies star paceman Fidel Edwards, Magoffin is the final piece of the jigsaw for Steve Rhodes' side.
