DOODLING youngsters at a Pershore school raised about £100 for a charity that supports one of their peers.
Cherry Orchard First School held a special doodle event, as part of National Doodle Day, to raise money for the Neurofibromatosis Association and Epilepsy Action.
Children paid £1, went to school in non-uniform and each created a special doodle, which will be sent off to be judged against nationwide entries.
A spokesman at the school said: "We decided to take part as one of our pupils, Imogen WIlkes, suffers from the condition.
"Imogen's mum came in to the school on the day and spoke to the pupils. It was a really lovely event and everyone had a good time."
Neurofibromatosis affects one in every 2,500 people world-wide and some 24,000 in this country alone.
Complications include learning difficulties, behavioural problems, large benign skin tumours, and internal spine and brain tumours; there is also an increased risk of epilepsy.
Prizes for the national competition will be awarded to the best nursery school/class, best primary school, best secondary school and best sixth form college/class.
Prizes include more than £1,000 of stationary products donated by BIC.
All winners will appear in the hall of fame and receive a winners' certificate signed by National Doodle Day patron Maureen Lipman.
