Dave Boddy: Did not want resignations.

FRUSTRATION over the sale of St George's Lane and club finances have led to the resignation of three Worcester City directors.

Derek Jones, Paul Curtis and David Little have all stepped down from the board in the past few days.

The trio are not happy with the way money at the Blue Square North club, who are already around £1million in debt, is being managed.

The sale of the current ground and relocation to Nunnery Way is also a major factor in their decision.

A deal with St Modwen Properties to build an £8million stadium was an-nounced last October but that is dependent on the Lane being sold.

Jones, who had been a director for six years, said: "We didn't agree with the way that the finances of the club are being handled. There's a lot of frustration surrounding the sale of the ground and the move to a new ground.

"Some of that frustration has been down to the way things have been handled internally but a lot is external that we can't do anything about.

"I don't think the club has had the best advice at all times and made the right appointments."

But he added: "It's got nothing to do with what's going on on the pitch and I want to make that absolutely clear because I think Richard Dryden is the best thing that's happended to this club in a long time.

"He's one of the few bright spots at the club at the moment. He's a gentleman and needs the fans' support. I feel that next season, when it's his squad, he will move things forward and I have got a great deal of respect for him."

Chairman Dave Boddy said: "I completely understand Derek Jones' frustrations about the new stadium, frustrations that have been expressed by the whole board, including myself.

"The last six months have been a very difficult period for the football club in every respect, not just the sale of St George's Lane but it's been a very difficult financial period for the club and that's accepted by all.

"Their departures are due to a disagreement with a policy of the board and on principle they have resigned.

"I am disappointeed that they have chosen to resign. We certainly didn't want them to resign but understand and respect the principles with which they have resigned.

"All three worked tirelessly during their directorship.

"We thank them for their contributions to Worcester City Football Club."
