City’s future worries fans
WORCESTER City supporters are demanding a say on the club's future.
A group of fans are worried about the state of the finances at St George's Lane and the proposed move to Nunnery Way.
They have also expressed concern about a lack of information on the new stadium, falling attendances, admission prices and a failure to address the club's increasing debt.
As a result, they are aiming to resurrect the Worcester City FC Supporters Trust at a meeting on Friday, April 4, at Worcestershire County Cricket Club's New Road Cricket Suite at 7.30pm.
Around 50 fans attended a trust steering committee meeting following Monday's 1-1 draw against Alfreton to express their views.
A trust statement read: "Following the resignations of three directors, mounting speculation about the state of the club's finances and concerns whether the much-vaunted ground move is actually viable, a steering committee has become sufficiently worried about the future of Worcester City FC they have resurrected the club's supporters trust."
The trust was originally formed in 2004, and had around 100 members, but looked set to close after three years of inactivity.
However, a meeting last month generated renewed interest in the trust and the steering committee is urging all City fans to attend on Friday week. They plan to set out an agenda for the future, which could see them seek shares in the club and board representation.
Thirteen British football clubs are either currently owned or controlled by supporter trusts, more than 25 per cent of trusts have board representation and 50 per cent have a shareholding in their club.
Members of the steering committee were due to meet City chairman Dave Boddy last night.
He said: "We would be delighted if the supporters' trust could reform and be a positive and proactive force for the club.
"We are happy to talk to them about their ideas and how we can be invovled in that."

All City Supporters should attend the meeting on 4th April.
The things that will be revealed about the club's current situation will shock and amaze you. One third of the board of directors quit for a reason people, and I fear the end is nigh!
