BARITONE: Eamonn Duggan
BARITONE: Eamonn Duggan

THE atmosphere of 18th century Vienna is to be brought to life in Pershore.

The world-renowned English Symphony Orchestra wind ensemble will perform the music of Mozart at the Number 8 Community Arts Centre, Pershore High Street, tomorrow night.

"This unique concert will provide a glimpse of Mozart's world in the last 10 years of his life," said ESO's Alison King.

"It will also be the chance to hear the memorable baritone of Eamonn Dougan against the ESO oboes, clarinets, horns and bassoons."

As well as singing arias from The Marriage of Figaro and The Magic Flute, Dougan will be reading from Mozart's personal letters to family and friends, giving a fascinating and often humorous insight into the musician's mind The concert will also include instrumental pieces, some written by Mozart and some specially arranged by members of the ESO ensemble.

Mozart moved to Vienna in 1781 when wind instruments were at their most popular.

For tickets to Mozart - a Life in Letters, priced £18, call the Number 8 box office on 01386 555488.
