HORSE OWNERS across the two counties are being invited to a Wild Horse Agility event.

Agility trainer Mel Garner said that the event – which takes place at Hilltop Cross Country course near Ledbury – is all about the relationship and connection that you have with your horse as a partnership.

Because you don’t ride your horse, all participants are asked to bring with them a 22ft lead rope, although a 10ft long one will do.

Mel said: “My aim is to help unite people with their horses and help them to work together to grow their relationship while having fun.

“Horse Agility is a passion of mine which combines horsemanship and fun, helping to develop relationship with your horse through leadership.

“Horse Agility helps to build and develop the partnership and also gives you the chance to test it out. There is always a new challenge along the way and the ultimate in relationship, liberty.

“Only then can you really know where you are together on your journey. I look forward to helping you with your journey.”

The event, which takes place on October 12, will give horse and owner the chance to ride over steps, banks, ditches, streams, hills and natural fences. There is also a great water complex to enjoy.

“You couldn’t ask for more with this course,” said Mel. “I provide training on the way round and we have a fun competition.

“Marks are based on the horse agility system of half points for the obstacle and half for your horsemanship.

“Twenty marks are awarded for overall relationship, flowing around the obstacles and confidence and communication.

It’s a great day out with hot drinks and home-made cake halfway round.”

Mel says people should bring two ropes. A hat and gloves are strongly advised and boots for your horse to wear.

People are asked to arrive at Hilltop at 10am. It will cost members £45 and non-members £50. Places must be booked in advance by contacting Mel at mel@heartfelthorse.com.
