FOR several years, Diana and Roger Morgan have been restoring their breathtaking Victorian garden on the edge of the Malvern Hills – and the results are clear for all to see.

The one-and-a-half acre garden, perched picturesquely on the western slopes of hills, commands stunning views of Hay Bluff, with visibility of up to 40 miles on a clear day.

The garden has been restored very much in keeping with its Victorian tradition, with striking period features including a long herbaceous border, a rhododendron area and a beautiful sunken garden.

Plants to view include magnolias, azaleas, crinodendron hookerianum, gunnera, fig and vine, and the garden is shaded by two giant redwoods and a deodara cedar.

Families will be delighted that there is a children’s garden and play area, complete with a fedge – a cross between and fence and a hedge – and a roundhouse formed from woven willow branches which becomes an impressive green tepee for children to play in during the summer months.

A zip wire, climbing frame and trampoline just add to the fun.

Mrs Morgan said the garden received more than 100 visitors during last year’s opening, and she was looking forward to raising hundreds more pounds this weekend. All proceeds from entry go to the National Garden Scheme, which divides the money between several charities.
