YOUNG farmers from all over Worcestershire will be converging on Brookhouse Farm, Ham Green, near Redditch, on Saturday, May 30, for their 61st annual County Show.
Young Farmers’ Clubs are the largest rural youth organisation for 10 to 26- year-olds in the county and the Worcestershire branch is part of a national federation of about 22,000 members.
Neil Warren, the show chairman, said: “Our mission is to provide an environment and opportunities to allow our members to have fun, whilst learning and achieving.
“The County Show is the pinnacle of our year at which there are more than 800 competition entries in 56 competitions, ranging from the traditional exhibit and craft competitions, cookery and floral art competitions to the more lighthearted live statue and YFC’s Got Talent and tug of war competitions in the afternoon. Once again we will have lambs and calves on site too.”
The day is full of hustle and bustle as members rally around between competitions providing some wonderful and exhilarating displays in the various contests. Gates are open to members of the public from 9am and the day concludes with a prizegiving ceremony at about 5pm.
Neil said: “Our County Show is the ideal shop window for the YFC to show people what we are all about and dispel any myths. It’s also a great opportunity for anyone interested in joining Young Farmers’ to come and see one of our biggest events of the year.
“With such a variety of competitions I am sure there will be something to interest everyone. Anyone is welcome to come and see what theYFC can do and has to offer the youth of Worcestershire. There will be food available all day and parking is free.
The event will be signposted from the B4091 Hanbury Road.”
