I WISH we could rewind the clock so it is half term again.

Not because I actually went away anywhere or did anything particularly fun.

(I don't have any children and fun is only an optional extra for this 25-year-old.)

Simply because of the lack of traffic on the roads.

Small victories I know, but important when you spend nearly two hours driving every day.

Getting into and out of Worcester city centre was a (relative) breeze.

A far cry from the normal snaking jams that snarl up the main routes through the city.

Alas, the easy drive to work only lasted for five days.

But after a week I had almost got used to cruising into the office with no problem.

So the dreadful journey I had on the way in last Monday came as something of a shock to the system.

It was back to the old 'first gear, edge forward, stop, repeat' style of driving that you get around Worcester.

And I soon realised why - the kids were back at school.

Then it hit home that it will be like this for another six weeks before the Christmas holidays start.

They can't come soon enough for this miserable young reporter.

I might need to come up with a new method of transport that avoids roads to keep my blood pressure down.

PS. This rant isn't meant to cause offence to parents who drive their kids to school.

That is just a part of life and obviously it has to be done.

However, being the selfish person that I am, I wish there was some way my journey into work didn't intersect with the journeys of thousands of parents every morning.

There is a massive difference in driving around when children are on holiday and the school run isn't happening.

Maybe we could arrange for all workers to start later on, or the schools to start earlier?

That would be an ideal solution for everyone and stop me moaning.
