MOST people of my acquaintance go in for social networking but I avoid this nonsense like the plague.
It’s ideal for youngsters who wish only to talk rubbish all day but entirely unsuitable for older folk who will have obviously accumulated many friends and associates down the years.
I mean, do you really want someone from way-back-when suddenly re-entering your life again, particularly if the memory is not a happy one?
The internet in general can also have its hazards, for you can find anyone these days at the touch of a keystroke. And then there’s the phantom follow-up phone call, which can either be a pleasant surprise of the start of a nightmare.
The past is indeed a foreign country… and best left that way.
