TRIPLE TESCO VOUCHERS’ VALUE ON RAIL FARES

Spend Tesco Clubcard vouchers on goods in its Tesco Clubcard Rewards brochure and their value is tripled, so a £20 voucher becomes £60. One of the deals featured is train ticket shop RedSpottedHanky. Swap a £10 voucher and it’s worth £30. You can use your railcard and there are no booking fees. E-vouchers take 24 hours to arrive – in time for a last-minute Easter getaway. Before redeeming Tesco points, quickly check if you’ve any unused or lost old Clubcard vouchers to put in your points arsenal. The forum’s hopping with success stories, many have found £100+ (worth £300 tripled).

5P/LITRE OFF FUEL AT SAINSBURY’S/CO-OP

Spend £50 online or in store at Sainsbury’s or £30 at selected Co-op food stores to nab a voucher.

£1 TRAIN AND COACH TICKETS

Sister companies Megatrain and Megabus offer train and bus fares across England and Scotland for £1 each way plus a 50p booking charge per transaction. Megatrain only releases tickets 45 days before travel; when we checked, there were still fares available over the Easter and royal wedding periods, but you need to go quickly.

TRAVELODGE £15 EASTER SALE

Budget hotel chain Travelodge often sells tens of thousands of ultra-cheap £10 to £25 sale rooms. To bag them you need to know when a new batch is released. Last week it released 30,000 £15 rooms for April 21 to May 4 stays (non-sale usually £25-£60), including bank holidays. It estimates there are 20,000 left.

EASTER HOLIDAY UNIVERSITY STAYS

The website UniversityRooms rents halls-of-residence rooms left empty during the holidays in 20 UK cities, including London, Oxford and Cambridge. When we checked there were still plenty of rooms left over Easter, including singles at St Luke’s Hall in Exeter for £22 or twins at Churchill College Cambridge for £75. The website Travelstay also lists cheap university rooms across the UK.
