AFASHION guru is visiting Worcester so the city’s women can treat themselves to his latest collection.

George Davies, who founded Next in the 80s, George at Asda in the 90s and Per Una in Marks and Spencer in 2001, will have his autumn/winter brand GIVe on show at the Worcester Warriors Sixways ground on Friday, January 29, at discount prices.

Mr Davies, whose career in fashion retail spans more than 25 years and who launched his latest brand in October last year, is at Sixways for the second time.

He said: “GIVe is new, it’s unique and for me a dream come true. With my team, I have designed a collection that puts us on a par with all the international designers.”

GIVe says its aim is to interpret trends from commercial collections into clothes for real women that are distinctive from the rest of the high street. It describes its products as high-quality clothes for style-savvy women of all ages.

An indication of how different GIVe aims to be is that its garments are labelled differently to other brands, with traditional sizing replaced by roman numerals.

Mr Davies said he was excited to be visiting Worcester again following the success of an event in November when he gave £5,000 to causes including the Worcestershire Breast Unit Campaign and Acorns Children’s Hospice.

He said: “It really was a brilliant event and I can’t wait to bring the range to Worcester again. After the success of the last one I knew we would have to hold another event there. It will be the end of the autumn winter collection so there will be a lot of very special prices.”

He also exclusively revealed to your Worcester News that he wanted to bring his clothes to the city permanently. He said: “I’m looking for a site for my own shop in Worcester and have always wanted to get one here. It’s a case of getting the right site.”
